“Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect.  It means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.” –Unknown

We have tackled some pretty heavy subjects recently: violence, bullying, suicide, and intolerance.  While these issues definitely needed to be addressed, I wanted to shift gears today.  As a writer, I always want to make people think, but I also want them to become better in some way.  It’s a balancing act for sure.

This weekend’s lesson is all about feeling good.  That’s easy enough, right?  Well, not always. Feeling good about yourself and what’s going on in your life is always important.  Still, it’s easy to get caught up in your problems and every day distractions. When that happens, finding something (anything) to feel good about might be hard to do. It’s happened to me.  It happens to all of us.

I have decided to start a FEEL GOOD campaign this weekend and hope that you’ll join me.  Today and tomorrow, I’m going to spend time doing things that make me feel good.  That will include: reconnecting with friends and laughing a lot, creating new playlists for my iPod, getting through that book I haven’t had much time to read, starting a new art project, and finally having that ice cream I’ve been looking forward to since last Monday.  I plan to keep myself busy at feeling good.

Joining this FEEL GOOD campaign doesn’t need to cost you anything and won’t require any great effort on your part.  All that’s required is that you make the choice to feel good.  It’s that simple.  Even if things aren’t perfect in your life now, there are lots of reasons to feel good.

One reason to feel good is that today is an opportunity to be better than you were yesterday.  Strive every day to become a better person.  Don’t try to be perfect, just focus on improving yourself in some way.  You will achieve the benefits in the long run.

You can be who you want to be right now.  It doesn’t matter what your situation looks like, you can start being who you want to be today.  Remember, you get to choose.  Ask yourself: “How can I be that person I want to be today?”  Then, start doing the things that will get you there.

Learn something new today.  It is possible to learn something new every day.  Start thinking what you would like to learn and find ways to learn it.  These days, you can learn anything with a Google search.  It’s really that easy.

Be creative.  Write, draw or paint.  Get artistic.  Do what you enjoy doing and express yourself.  It will make your day much more enjoyable.  Plus, if you let other people see you expressing yourself, you will give them the freedom to do the same.

Have fun.  Watch a funny movie.  Enjoy the company of your friends.  Sing your favorite song at the the top of your lungs.  Find a reason to laugh.  Give someone else a reason to.

You can change lives for the better.  Every one of us has the ability to change someone’s life today. Do you have a friend or a relative who you haven’t contacted for a long time?  You can make them feel better today just by making a phone call or sending an email or text message.  If you make changing other people’s lives a habit, you will feel better about your own as a result.

You have an influence on the world.  It doesn’t matter whether you influence millions of people or just one person – your impact is still powerful, whether you realize it or not.

I want you all to feel good today, then pass it on.  The opportunities are unlimited. This is a FEEL GOOD campaign!  Who’s with me?

Found this nifty blog article, it’s a FEEL GOOD campaign. It aims to encourage people to feel good about themselves and I thought I would reblog it, so people could also join in for this weekend. I know I will definitely join in with this.
