I like the idea that one choice or one decision can improve a person’s life. I also like the idea that any ordinary day can become an extraordinary one. These two ideas come together for today’s lesson.
February the 29th, also known as Leap Day, is no ordinary day. It’s a date that occurs in most years that are divisible by 4, such as 2004, 2008, and 2012. I did not want this Leap Day to pass without taking an opportunity to share its significance.
Be Unlimited wants you to take a leap in the direction that leads to your highest potential. Leap Day only happens once every four years, this is true. But, there is a chance for you to take a leap any day you choose to do so. Here’s how:
Leap into an activity, hobby, or project that makes good use of your talents, skills, and natural abilities. You might also consider leaping into something that builds the talents, skills, and abilities you want to develop.
Some people would benefit from leaping into a new mindset. Improve the way you think about yourself. Expand your idea of what you can be.
Leap into a new mission. Get involved. Be of service.
Those are only a few ideas. What are you going to do?
Leaping is different for everyone. Take Kim Hunter (who I am following on Twitter) for example. She recently made the kind of leap few dare to make. Kim spent ten years working in politics. Now, she is embarking on a yearlong adventure to see the world, meet new people, and write about her experiences and escapades. Her blog is called Leaping Into Life.
As someone committed to making the world a better place, Kim also wants to use her blog to share the extraordinary work of people and projects that are making a difference and giving a hand to those less fortunate. This type of a leap might not be for everyone. Still, it should inspire you to make a leap of your own. Decide what’s right for you.
What Kim is doing is so inspiring to me. I wish her well on her journey, while following along from my laptop. Embarking on an adventure to see the world is something that I would love to do someday. In the meantime, I can make other leaps in my life.
I’ve leapt into three different projects which are keeping me busy at the moment. I’m organizing a youth summit, preparing the release of a book, and about to start production on a feature film. There’s a lot going on, but I like to stay busy with projects that keep me creative, and that keep me growing in some way. Today, I am also leaping into a new diet and exercise regimen, as I train for an upcoming run in five weeks.
Life is about taking action, this I know. If we sit and do nothing but talk about what we want, we will never reach our potential. Do not just think of the possibilities, leap in their direction.
